Both Julie and Kyle’s families moved around a lot from being in the Air Force. The two just happened to be studying abroad in the Caribbean when they were 19, and that was all it took!  After dating for quite some time, sweet Kyle planned the perfect proposal! On “Back to the Future Day” (October 21, 2015), Julie had an all-day photo shoot scheduled. Kyle worked with her photographer to have the shoot end at the Lamar Footbridge. Kyle met her at the bridge and got down on one knee with musicians playing and their favorite city skyline in the background!

After all the moving around their families did, Kyle and Julie have now called Austin their home.  Julie is a singer and loves writing new music. Her new kids’ album came out this past spring! Kylie is in business development and loves to fish and spend time with their pup, Caesar in his spare time.

The engagement was a little over a year long, and Julie was an extremely organized bride! Julie and Kylie chose the Friday before NYE for their wedding night, so you can guess there was some glam!

Black, white, and rose gold was the selected color palette with plenty of bling. The two chose to have their wedding ceremony at the Green Cathedral, where ILIOS Lighting provided a twinkling display in the trees for their evening nuptials.   Over 170 family and friends witnessed #JuAndSchuSayIDo (cute hashtag by the way!) with cocktail hour on the Trellis.

Music was one of the most important elements for the wedding and Julie was able to snag the Night Owls for the entertainment.  The party was kicked off by a surprise performance by Julie herself! She sang her new single and surprised everyone, including her new hubby.  After all the dancing and singing the crowd could handle, Julie and Kyle ran through their tunnel of sparklers as the new Mr. and Mrs. Julie and Kyle Schumacher!

The night after the wedding is NYE, so Julie and Kyle threw a big boat party on Town Lake for their out-of-town guests. After that, the two newlyweds head to Capetown, South Africa for two weeks for their honeymoon!

This is what Julie had to say after her wedding at Ma Maison: “I cannot even begin to explain how perfect Ma Maison is. I will try to summarize my experience into 2 parts: The Owner and The Venue
The Owner: SO….around 3 AM the morning of the wedding, a good portion of the bridal party (including myself), all woke up with TERRIBLE food poisoning. I was worried about making it down the aisle. Karen, the owner, stopped in to greet the bridal party upon our arrival to the venue, and quickly learned of our food poisoning.  As the hair and makeup girls went to work, Karen (who is also a nurse), immediately got to work to make sure that we were all taken care of. She could not have been more helpful, kind, gracious….she’s incredible. While we all remained sick through the evening, Karen continued to check in on all of us and had the caterer make us special meals. While I could go on and on about Karen, know this — she is the best. You won’t find a better venue owner. Period.
The Venue: Two weeks after our engagement, we toured venues (I had read online about how the best wedding venues in ATX often get booked more than a year out — this is true! Don’t delay!). We ended up touring 17 venues in one week/weekend. Because of the flooding that weekend, we had to change our route to Ma Maison and were running late. Since we were on such a tight schedule, we did not get the full tour. Karen gave us a super quick walk-through, but that was all we needed. We both knew the second we saw the property/venue that this was the one for us. It is perfect. Karen, who planned weddings for 20+ years prior to building this property, did not miss a detail. She knew exactly what the perfect wedding venue needs, and she executed it perfectly with Ma Maison. Every vendor loves working there, every guest loves visiting there, and I could not have been happier with our entire experience. It really is a picture-perfect venue with a fantastic owner and staff.
I can’t say enough good things about Ma Maison. Best decision we made for our wedding.”
