In 2007, Connor and Genevieve just happened to be rooming across from each other in South Padre Island at a church retreat for youth groups across the country. Genevieve was from Austin while Connor lived in Lubbock, Texas. Over that week, the two spent a lot of time together and ended up exchanging numbers on the last day. Over the long bus ride home the next morning, the two exchanged texts getting to one another. The two knew they had something special but were separated by 400 miles. Connor and Genevieve’s first official date was Genevieve invited Connor to be her date at her senior year homecoming dance.

The couple dated long distance for six and a half years before Connor gave in and moved to Austin so the two could finally live in the same city. Nine months later, Connor decided it was time to propose. On November 21st of 2015, Connor took Genevieve out to The Hill Country for a wine tasting. At the last winery, the couple enjoyed an array of wines and even were treated to a tasting from a barrel in the wine cellar. Connor then led Genevieve around the vineyard to a private area that overlooked the hill country. As the sun was setting, Connor got down on one knee and asked Genevieve to marry him. She obviously said yes! The celebration continued at Genevieve’s parent’s house where Connor had arranged a surprise engagement party with Genevieve’s family.

Connor and Genevieve were very familiar to traveling and airports since they dated long distance for many years. It was no surprise that the first time they said “I love you” to one another was inside the airport after Genevieve took a trip to Lubbock to spend time with Connor. Long distance was not easy but taught the two to cherish their time together and gave the two a great lesson to learn that they will be able to keep with them for the rest of their lives.

While wedding planning, the two decided to include blue, Connor’s favorite color, and green, Genevieve’s favorite color to create a color palette of soft blue, green, gray, and ivory. “Low-key luxe” meets garden party could be one way to describe the couple’s wedding style. The two wanted to have lots of classic elements with a few fun twists that would truly express Connor and Genevieve as individuals and as a couple.

Genevieve and Connor thought one of the most important factors to their wedding day was going to be the moment Genevieve would walk down the aisle to Connor at the ceremony. They wanted to have a meaningful and unforgettable moment when they first saw each other when the doors at The Grove opened and Genevieve walked down the aisle.

On a perfect August Saturday, Genevieve and Connor woke up and got ready to marry each other at Ma Maison. Over 150 of the couple’s closest family and friends gathered at The Grove ceremony site to witness the new Mr. and Mrs. Connor and Genevieve Fleming. The ceremony site was adorned with plenty of greenery to achieve the garden party feel of the décor. Genevieve’s six bridesmaids wore mix matching gowns in the wedding colors. Connor and his four groomsmen wore blue suits to compliment the wedding color scheme.

Once the ceremony had concluded, guests made their way to The Trellis for cocktail hour. The reception was held in The Great Hall of Ma Maison. As the wedding day came to a close, all guests went outside for the couple’s send off. As the two walked down the pathway, they were showered with pop out streamers (a unique touch!). The following day the newly married couple left for their honeymoon to St. Lucia to enjoy some sandy beaches and relax!
